Emptiness

In everyday life we don’t like
our things to ever be empty,
whether our pantry or our car
we are a nation who wants plenty.

But the Lord likes empty things
for then He can fill them up,
we need to believe His words
and live life like an empty cup.

For the tomb of Christ is empty
because He died then rose again,
our hearts and the tomb were filled
with a light that comes from within.

The empty tomb is the proof
of the power that God has given,
it is a permanent reminder
that we were purchased and forgiven.

Showing Up

There are many times in life
when we want to just give in,
things are all in disarray
and it seems we just can’t win.

It’s then that we start to look
on the other side of the fence,
the grass always looks greener
and its attraction is immense.

We can also become discouraged
about everything that’s going on,
but that’s when God does a miracle
and your doubts and fears are gone.

There are times we try to argue
with ourselves and with the Lord,
or we fill our lives with business
but these things we can ill afford.

For we all have a dark side
that fights to win our flesh,
sin will try to take over us
and our hearts it will enmesh.

We have to just keep showing up
before the Lord God each day,
no matter what the circumstance
we must worship Him and pray.
